About The Developer
Tyler Brooks is a Senior UX Designer and front-end technologist living and working in the Annapolis, Maryland area. With over 10 years of experience across UX design, interaction design, and front-end development, Ty brings a rare combination of design craft and technical fluency to every product he works on.
Most recently, Ty served as Senior UX Designer at Eaton Corporation, where he owned end-to-end UX/UI design for three concurrent IoT applications including Brightlayer Home, an internal Developer Portal, and a Device Support Portal. His work contributed to a 4.7 App Store rating with over 2,100 reviews, and spanned the full product lifecycle from user research and prototyping through sprint planning and delivery.
Prior to Eaton, Ty spent six years at the University of Maryland, Office of Marketing and Communications, where he progressed from Web Designer through Senior Front-End Web Designer to Senior Digital Experience Developer. During his time there he led UX design for the university's web and mobile properties, spearheaded the front-end development of Maryland Today, and helped shape the digital identity of one of the country's leading public research institutions.
Ty holds a Master of Information Management from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Roger Williams University. He is also Lean Six Sigma Certified.
Outside of work, Ty enjoys spending time with his wife and two Golden Retrievers. When he is not designing or building, you can find him outdoors working on their century-old house, tinkering on household projects, or pursuing the hobbies that keep him curious and hands-on.
"I am constantly thinking about new features or practices in the design community. What I see on the web fuels a desire, almost an obsession, to design new, focused and effective work. I am constantly working to better myself by trying new things or learning a new coding language. I do this simply because I want to, not because it is just another skill I can throw into my repertoire." - Tyler Brooks
